Project Type
Resilient Agriculture Research
Location
Palestine-Israel
Year
2018
This photo series was captured during my time living and working in the Arava Desert as a research assistant in the Arava Institute. The work was focused on trying to grow climate change resiliency in crops so the plants could tolerate extreme weather conditions. Much of the time was spent traveling into the surrounding mountains to look for wild relatives of ancient barley, lentils, and dates, relatives who have been adapting with the climate for thousands of years. My time was also spent investigating how a landscape so rich in resilient agricultural potential struggles to maintain geo-political stability.
